Portable Grills
Sometimes you may feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer
number of portable grills on the market. Numerous shapes and
sizes are being sold out there and I once saw a propane
portable grill that looks like something out of a sci-fi movie
for goodness sake. I think it looked like a cross between Star
Wars RD-D2 and UFOs from Close Encounters of The Third Kind, if
memory serves me well.
Anyway, if you’re currently shopping for portable grills,
first thing you got to do is decide what sort of grill are you
looking for? Propane gas grill or a charcoal one? Each has its
own pros and cons so it’s important that you weigh them
properly or you might regret it later on.

Let me talk about the benefits of using charcoal
portable grills…
- Better at preserving seasoning and spices added to your
food.
- Flexible. Meaning you can throw in coals, wood etc.
- I prefer the smell of the charcoal.
- Food tastes better when grill using charcoal, in my
opinion. Love the smoky flavor!
- Allows you to smoke your food (with a side smoker)
- It’s fun to use (fun to play with charcoal fire).
Here are the cons…
- Charcoal takes longer to heat up but that can be remedied
with a chimney starter though.
- Generally takes longer to cook food than gas powered
grill.
- Heat control can be a bit difficult.
- Hassling to clean.
- Food cooks unevenly especially if you’re inexperience at
grilling.

Now, we go over the pros of propane gas portable
grills…
- Very quick to get up and running.
- Cooks food quicker than charcoal.
- Cooks food evenly if you lack grilling experience.
- Ease of use overall and also easy to clean.
And now the cons…
- Foods usually taste inferior to those grilled using a
charcoal grill.
- Lack that smoky, appetizing aroma.
- You can’t smoke food properly with propane gas grills.
- Not fun to cook food with it.
So there you go. The pros and cons of each type of grill
neatly laid out for you. If your budget permits, I recommend
buying both types of portable grills because each has its place
in the world of home grilling! Anyway, here’s a large selection
of portable grills that have received an overwhelming amount of
positive feedback from many users.
Best Price for Small Gas Grills
The best price range for small gas grills should be between
50 to 100 dollars. Grills that are lower than the aforesaid
price range are generally questionable in quality. Sure, they
might work for the first couple of times or so, then you’d
probably run into all kinds of problems like parts that are
easily broken, crack or loose grill grates, grill wouldn’t lit,
wobbly legs and God knows what else.
So if you want to get small gas grills that are considered
top-of-the-line such as Cuisinart CGG-180T which is shown here
or my personal favorite, Weber 1520 Propane,
then you have to set aside a budget of at least 50 to 110
dollars. These grills are effective and would last a
really long time if you take proper care of them. Worth
every darn cent let me tell ya.
Also don’t worry about the shipping cost because it’s
completely free of charge. That is if you plan on buying one of
these small grills online. Not sure about the prices at retail
stores (not many in my area anyway) but Amazon typically sell
items at a cheaper price.
They work together with the grill manufacturers helping them
out in processing the orders, fulfillment and so on. The result
is we consumers get to enjoy our items at manufacturers’
prices.
So I’m going to leave a couple of links here so you can sit
back, relax, and read more in-depth reviews and compare prices
of each gas grill.
