On this site, I spoke about a cool portable cast iron charcoal grill which is renowned for its ability to grill food and producing outstanding flavor using a relatively small amount of charcoal. Of course the grill itself has its pros and cons but a couple of readers were put off by the price tag.

Now, I think the price is not that massive or anything. You can get the thing from Amazon for 100 bucks or so plus free shipping so you save time and gas (“do your bit for the environment so says my lovely but sometimes annoying wife). The grill is a winner to me so it’s definitely worth that price tag but I know some folks are looking for cheaper options.

Cheap charcoal grills are a dime a dozen on the market and that’s the problem right there. So many cheap choices and we all know that cheap usually equates to low-quality! But don’t worry though.

I specifically set up this page so I can help you discover a couple of cheap charcoal grills that are very decent especially when you consider the cost.

I consider price range of between 25 to 50 dollars to be cheap. If you’re looking for something lower than that price range yet offers superior grilling experience, then I can only wish you lots of luck! Though I’m sure high-quality charcoal grills below 25 bucks do exist, but I never had any luck finding one.

Okay, let’s talk about those cheap charcoal grills…

This is a photo of Weber 121020 portable charcoal grill. It’s yours for around 50 bucks or so. It offers a pretty decent cooking area for its size, around 160 square inches. You can easily fit around 5 to 7 burger patties on the cooking surface. Carrying the thing around is easy because it only weighs approximately 15 pounds, and the assembling process was peanuts for me (and I generally suck at assembling stuff).

Now, this grill offers very even heat distribution and coals are kept hot because of the wonderfully constructed design. Basically the design has decent airflow so coal remains hot till the last grill. My only beef with this grill is that it can get quite unstable sometimes due to the legs that are not properly aligned.

Another Cheap Charcoal BBQ Grill

Another cheap charcoal grill that I personally own but haven’t use in ages is the Hotspot Notebook portable charcoal grill. It doubles as notebook laptop with Windows 7 operating system and portable griller. Meaning it allows you to grill food and perform your office work simultaneously.

Sorry for making stupid jokes again ;) It’s my forte. Now, this particular grill isn’t super amazing or anything like that, but it cost less than 40 bucks and pretty decent in my opinion.

The standout feature of this grill is definitely its “folding feature” You can fold the thing easily and bring along to wherever you wish. Heck, you can even take it along on your motorbike have BBQ sessions all over the place. No cast iron grill grates on it, so you have to settle for chrome plated steel. Won’t make your food tastes as good as cast iron grates but still gets the job done pretty well.
