Best Cast Iron Charcoal Grill
I create this site for the purpose of sharing info on
various cast iron grill grates, but then I figured, why not
discuss about other grilling products. Yes, especially those
that I have personally used or am currently using such as Lodge
Logic L410 which is I regard as the best cast iron charcoal
grill. If you want to how it looks like, then here it is. I
bought one about 6 months ago by the way.
 Lodge Logic L410
This black beauty weighs about 32 pounds with a measurement
of 19 by 10-1/4 by 8-1/4 inches which is ideal for bringing
along on camping trips, picnics, etc, plus the cooking grate
size is perfect for serving around 5 people thanks to its
relatively large cooking grate that measures at 17-1/4 by
9-inches.
Now, let me tell you why I think this particular model is
the best cast iron charcoal grill. First, it’s super durable. I
rammed it with my pickup truck the other day and there wasn’t a
single dent on it! Awesome huh? Only I’m bullshitting you of
course. Sorry. Joking aside, this grill is indeed durable and
is sure to last for a very long time.
Second, it requires small amount of charcoal for grilling
your food and it cooks very, very quickly as well. I often use
a pretty small lump of charcoal and that’s more than enough to
fire up the grill for a few hours (approximately 3 to 4 hours).
Love that charcoal flavor on my steaks, burger patties, and
chicken wings!
Heat is evenly distributed and super hot too which is
expected since the thing is made of quality cast iron after
all. Draft slide in place for managing heat. Also, replacement
parts are easy to source on the cheap.
Any negatives about this grill? Yes of course. It sure is in
my opinion, the best cast iron charcoal grill but doesn’t mean
the thing is 100% tutti-frutti. Cleaning it is a bit of a
hassle. This portable charcoal grill has no lid, thus
preventing you from smoking your food. Basically, you can only
use it for grilling and that’s that.
Lastly, the thing doesn’t come fully assembled. It was
shipped to my house when I was at work so my wife accepted the
delivery. Got home, open the package and turned out I had to
assemble it myself. It’s a minor problem really because putting
it together was a cinch but I love to complain about the
smallest things lol! Anyway, the thing can be shipped to your
place for free (U.S only mind you). Just use the link below to
get the lowdown.
Other Types of Cast Iron Charcoal Grills
Well, cast iron charcoal grills are available in all sorts
of shape and sizes. The one I covered above is actually a
portable charcoal grill and should really be considered as the
best “PORTABLE” charcoal grill but I got a little carried away
because of its sheer awesomeness. I mean really, I didn’t
expect it to work so well considering the size and all. Anyway,
if you’re looking for cast iron charcoal grills that are much
bigger in size, then you might consider the
following.
 Char-Griller 2222
I don’t have this baby but my brother-in-law, Rob, has one
at his place in Houston. This griller allows you to perform
both grilling and smoking. It’s equipped with heavy-duty
cast iron grill
grates. Make sure you season them regularly to avoid rust.
The griller itself is constructed of heavy-duty steel and would
last for many, many years if you take good care of it. If I’m
not mistaken, Rob has owned this griller for about 5 years now.
That’s half a decade and still running good!
Cleaning is a cinch thanks to the super convenient dump ash
pan. It’s pretty big so you can cook a lot of stuff on it and
it gets them done fast and juicy. What I really like about this
griller is the built-in thermometer making temperature
monitoring a cinch.
There are bunch more cast iron charcoal grills on the market
and manufacturers like Weber, Char-Griller, Lodge often churn
high-quality stuff and getting rave reviews from grilling
novices and purists alike. If you’re crazy about charcoal
grilling your food, don’t forget to acquire other vital tools
such as chimney starter, grill mitts, barbecue forks, spatulas,
skewers, basting brush etc. Now, you may want to check out a
